Kathi started in the restaurant business more than 16 years ago.  Moving to Kansas City after college, she began working as a manager at the Longbranch Saloon on the Plaza.  In 1997, Kathi accepted a position as a manager with K.C. Hopps at McCoy’s Public House.  For the next four years, Kathi also worked at the K.C. Hopps flagship 75th Street Brewery and their Mediterranean concept, Mosaic.  Mosaic featured a varied wine list with more than 40 wines by the glass.  She began taking wine courses and studying, earning her first level Sommelier certification in May 2004.

After working at Culinary Concepts in Crown Center from 2001 to 2004, Kathi accepted the Director of Food and Beverage position at Hotel Phillips overseeing the Phillips Chophouse, 12Baltimore Café, room service and catering.  In 2005 Kathi and the Phillips Chophouse were honored by Wine Spectator with the Best of Award of Excellence for the wine list. 

Kathi is currently the General Manager and Sommelier at Room 39 at Mission Farms.  She has created a focus on small production wineries and Room 39 now offers wine flights and menu pairings.  The Room39 menu featuring the work of Chefs Andy Sloan, Ted Habiger and Brandon Winn cooking with the freshest seasonal ingredients from local farmers along with Kathi’s delightful wine list make a truly unique Kansas City dining experience.
